What are you doing for Öcalan Books Day?

Öcalan Books day is this coming Sunday, 10 December. We chose this day to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which Abdullah Öcalan’s situation so blatantly ignores. Öcalan’s writings are of universal importance, and we hope that this day can serve as a prompt for getting to know his ideas better and introducing them to others. We have suggested some actions below, and even if you don’t manage to do anything as a group, we hope you can make use of the suggested readings and links.

Action formats:

Public readings and book presentations in selected locations (social centers, theaters, etc.) and public places about different subjects of his political philosophy (see proposal below) or addressing the situation in which he writes his books and the torture he is subjected to by the Imrali system.

Gift books to acquaintances, members of the public, academics, professors in the university

Information stands with books, leaflets, dossier, brochures

Cooperation with book stores and libraries, encouraging them to put posters and material about the campaign to arrange special table/board with book’s of Öcalan to hold readings of Öcalan’s books

Visual representation such as a short film/documentary introducing Öcalan or a street performance/theater
