The following statement was shared by Pervin Buldan DEM Party MEP and member of the Imrali Delegation, following the last meeting with Kurdish People’s Leader, Abdullah Öcalan.
During the last meeting on Imrali Island on January 17, clashes were still ongoing in the neighbourhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh (Aleppo). These clashes had caused Mr. Öcalan great concern and, at the same time, great anger. Consequently, he made important observations that paved the way for negotiation and dialogue. It would not be wrong to say that this stage—attempts towards a permanent ceasefire and return to negotiations— was reached after we conveyed his messages to the relevant parties. Therefore, Mr. Öcalan’s mission, role, and calls in this regard, based on the perspective of preventing the Kurdish people from being massacred once again, have been decisive in bringing the agreement to this stage.
ÖCALAN MADE IMPORTANT OBSERVATIONS REGARDING THE PROTECTION OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE ROJAVA REVOLUTION.
Öcalan further emphasised that the Kurds were facing a major conspiracy, stating that “a new February 15 Conspiracy is being prepared,” in reference to the international conspiracy of 15 February 1999 that led to his imprisonment.
